Fat Bombs, also called Keto Bombs, are the ultimate high fat Ketogenic snack. Rich, fudge-like little treats that you will thoroughly enjoy, these low carb, sugar-free Fat Bombs will sustain you and get you through any hunger issues that arise between your meals or they are perfect if you’ve skipped a meal but aren’t quite ready for the next one. 

I’ve created a recipe template that allows you to customize your Fat Bombs with endless flavors and textures. Play around with them. Experiment. Discover your own favorites. Just start with one of the template’s three base options, then depending on your mood (and pantry items), select your flavor – add ghee and salt for an amazing salted caramel flavor, raw cacao powder for rich dark fudginess, or any of your favorite spices: cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, nutmeg, cardamom…

Flavoring and Texture
It is so easy to change the flavor of these Fat Bombs; simply using cashew or macadamia nut butter instead of almond butter or peanut butter makes a world of difference. For lemon or fruit flavored Fat Bombs don’t use almond butter or peanut butter.

These Bombs are made with coconut butter, which has its own natural sweet taste, so you really won’t need to add any sweetener. If you do find you prefer it sweeter, go ahead and add a few drops of stevia, 1-2 Tbsp. powdered erythritol or monk fruit to your batter.

I know I talk a lot about eliminating snacks however, sometimes a snack is necessary.  There are times when I don’t have time for a large lunch or I just can’t make it seamlessly to my next meal with all the running around and raising three kids. I like to keep Fat Bombs in my freezer for when my body is crying out for some fuel and I don’t want to feed it simple carbohydrates, or glucose-based snacks that may throw me out of whack. Aside from Fat Bombs, I also love to have homemade chocolate, macadamia nuts, avocados, olives, jerky, homemade crackers, and one of my Paleo Breads around – all perfect to sustain me between my meals.

These, like most Fat Bombs, need to be stored in the fridge so they don’t get too soft.  They can be kept up to three weeks or freeze them for an icy treat anytime.

Instructions
  1. Melt the coconut oil and coconut butter in a saucepan on low. Make sure it doesn’t get too hot or it may burn on the bottom. You can use a double boiler if you have one or a stainless steel pot on top of a saucepan with water.
  2. Mix in the nut/seed butter, ghee (if using), and remove from the stove. Add any flavorings, sweeteners, and textures of choice. Refer to the charts above, and in the Notes section below, for delicious inspiration.
  3. Pour into a mini muffin pan with paper liners, a silicon ice cube mold, or any other silicon shaped mold. You can also use an 8x8 baking dish or Tupperware lined with parchment paper and cut your Fat Bombs into squares once they harden.
  4. Refrigerate for 2 hours or freeze for 30 minutes until they harden. Store them in an airtight container. Enjoy!
Recipe Notes

Fat Bombs will keep for 2-3 weeks in the fridge.  Another great option is to freeze them all and just take one or two out when you want to enjoy them.

Bonus Tips
If you have a high-powered blender you can use unsweetened coconut in place of coconut butter, and raw nuts in place of nut butter. If you do this be sure to adjust the amount; use about three times as much. For example, instead of ½ cup of coconut butter, use 1 ½ cups unsweetened coconut.
